CannaRadar is a B2B marketing database and web app for companies trying to increase sales in the cannabis and hemp industry that was launched in November 2019. Subscriptions have grown rapidly with limited marketing, adding over $12,000 in annual recurring revenue in January 2020.
The database contains business and manager contact info, websites, and social media pages for all licensed cannabis businesses in the world. It also contains brands and products stocked at dispensaries across North America. Our subscribers are primarily using the database for marketing and secondarily using it for market analysis (measuring brand/product market share, seeing dispensary price levels, etc).
We have one main competitor (Cannabiz Media) that has >$5 million in annual revenue. Our subscribers who have switched to us from Cannabiz have said or data is equal to and in some cases better than Cannabiz Media (they don't offer branad/product info and don't allow users to download data into their own systems).
Our marketing has been exclusively through google ads as we do not have the time for other types of advertising (the two founders have full time jobs and have been putting in just 5-10 hours per week). We expect substantial growth with other marketing channels like email marketing and attending cannabis/hemp industry conferences.
We've also seen a strong uptick in organic growth from SEO (we've written a few blog posts) and social media (Twitter posts)
We've developed software to automate collection and updating of the most of the data in the database and have manually researched info where our software can't collect in an automated fashion. The whole company is no/low-code and has low monthly costs to maintain.
The purchaser of the company will also get access to 7 talented Yale undergraduate students who we use for freelance work on the business at $15/hour (manual research, writing web scrapers, marketing, etc).
